Philadelphia 3.0: Striving For Betterment and Progress

Philadelphia is located in the state of Pennsylvania in the United States of America. It is the largest city in Pennsylvania and also accounts for an approximate population of 1.5 million, making it 6th most populated city in the US. In the year 2015, a non-profit political organisation was formed to safeguard its people and capitalise on its progress. Philadelphia 3.0 was established on March 25th and has been functional ever since.

A brief history:

Philadelphia 3.0 was formed to fund development of the city of Philadelphia. Donors from various areas like real estate, technology sector and also professional, legal and financial service sectorscame forth to back it up. With Alison Perelman at the helm, the establishment has strived to support potential candidates for City Council. Amongst other agenda for progress of the city, Philadelphia 3.0also involves itself inmodernisation and reformation of the City Hall. The organisation firmly believes that reformation of a city cannot happen without help of a modern election system.

The main goal that the organisation is working toward is the removal of City Commissioner office and replacing it with a fair and new election system. It has also been backed by more than a dozen other civic organisations in its efforts. A couple of years ago, Philadelphia 3.0 backed seven potential candidates (Republicans and Democrats alike) for City Council, out of whom three were elected to office.

Like with most political organisations, Philadelphia 3.0 also faced its fair share of criticism and controversies. In a column of a leading daily, the organisation was accused of producing unaccounted money to back its candidates for elections. Even after being founded on righteous grounds, it was labelled as a hypocrite for not being able to disclose the source of its funds.

However, even though the concerns about a foul play were just, Philadelphia 3.0’s name was cleared soon after.
